About Xenograft Model Database

The Xenograft Models Database (XMD) project was founded to provide the global cancer research community with the comprehensive and centralized resource for in vivo oncology models. Cancer remains one of the greatest health challenges, and advancing new therapies depends on rigorous preclinical research. Xenograft.org provides a central hub for scientists and innovators to access a broad range of xenograft and related tumor models. Launched in 2024 as a collaborative initiative with NCR and partially funded by a Cancer Research Institute data program grant, XMD was designed to consolidate, standardize, and disseminate essential information about preclinical in vivo tumor systems. The database includes resources on xenograft models, syngeneic tumor models, patient-derived xenografts (PDX), cell line-derived xenografts (CDX), and immuno-oncology models. XMD dual structure integrates datasets generated in-house with curated contributions from collaborators, oncology hospitals, and research centers worldwide.

The XMD platform provides essential datasets—tumor growth kinetics, tumorigenicity profiles, and model availability—helping researchers select optimal models, reduce redundancy, and improve reproducibility. With planned integration of genomic and pharmacologic data, XMD strengthens translational research and bridges laboratory findings with clinical decision-making. Supported by research institutions and industry partners, our mission is to accelerate therapeutic development, de- risk pipelines, and advance life-saving treatments worldwide.
